- Telemedicine Scope
- Urgent care services are intended for common, uncomplicated, non-emergent concerns that can reasonably be evaluated through telemedicine.
- Video vs. Asynchronous Care
- Some concerns may be evaluated asynchronously when clinically appropriate. A video visit may be required based on symptoms, treatment requested, provider judgment, or applicable prescribing requirements.
- Prescriptions
- Prescriptions are provided only when clinically appropriate following provider evaluation.
- Controlled Medications
- Urgent care is not intended for routine prescribing or refilling of controlled medications.
- Local Pharmacy
- When medication is prescribed, prescriptions may be sent electronically to the patient’s local pharmacy.
- Medication Cost
- Medication and pharmacy costs are separate from the urgent care visit and are not included in the visit fee.
- Escalation of Care
- If the provider determines that telemedicine is not appropriate for the presenting concern, the patient may be directed to an in-person clinic, urgent care facility, emergency department, or other appropriate level of care.
